The market

Every Wednesday morning there is a local market in town. You will find a large choice of delicious olives, local fruit and vegetables, fresh fish and meat, and the local arts.

Walks in the Natural Park

For walkers and mountain bikers there is a lot to do and especially to see. When you are on the big walking paths that furrow the mountain (GR7, GR77, GR71,GR653) you can discover the wild sheep (here called mouflons) on the mountain of Caroux and Espinouse. It is actually the only place in France where their hunt is permitted. About 247 different species of birds have been registered in the Natural Park of the Haut Languedoc, for instance the Golden Eagle , the Common Krestel, the Montagu’s Harrier, the European sparrow Hawk, the Eurasian Eagle-owl ... so don’t forget to take your binoculars ! In the region of Saint-Ponais you will find also a lot of paths for those who prefer ATV’s and all terrain motorcycling.

The vineyards

The vineyards open their cellars hoping that you will come and taste their best "crus" (wines). We are surrounded by numerous AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) : Saint-Chinian, Minervois, Faugères, Pic Saint Loup, Corbières ...
